Dance research

Fascinated by the social politics of club culture, I turn my attention to the ritual as a form of encounter — both literal and, in a sense, magical.

Building on my previous work, the exploration focuses on the interplay between dance and music, and the ways in which this interaction transforms states of body and mind.

I seek to investigate this powerful synergy and extend it into other media, both in aesthetic terms and through the development of hybrid formats. In doing so, I revisit the relationship between dance and music, following the prophetic insight of John Cage: “Make music an integral part of the dance, and dance, as an art of time, a strong medium, and useful to society.”


The research led to the creation of two underground rituals:


INEVITABLE
Dancing ritual/ with Dj Mellow, Marghe & the audience

Beurschouwburg, Brussels White Night- 2011

A rite of passage between a dancer and a DJ who, with their infectious energy, captivate the audience and transform their ritual into a collective celebration of dancing identities.

THE MIRROR DANCING WALK
Street dance ritual

Charleroi Danses Biennal- 2011

A dance parade through the streets of Charleroi from the afternoon until nightfall, celebrating the resilence and power of underground culture.
