THE YOGALIA MEDITATION EXPERIENCE
Collective performance

Yogalia (Yoga + Italia) is a yoga-based performance developed as a speculative technique for restoring the well-being of Italy.
The piece unfolds like a conventional yoga class, led by a certified instructor who guides participants through an adapted sequence of asanas within a tricolour elastic band —evoking the colours of the Italian flag. The audience is invited to participate in the meditation at their own pace, collectively channeling energy and attention toward a symbolic practice of repair and reflection. Drawing on the structures of Yoga, the work engages the body as a site of both individual and collective resonance. Positioned between ritual, performance, and social commentary, Yogalia reflects on the tensions within contemporary Italian society, addressing a nation marked by institutional strain, corruption, and the re-emergence of authoritarian and neo-fascist tendencies.
